Third Festival of Jewish cinema

From the 18 to the 22 of February, in the Hotel Conrad, Punta del Este, Uruguay, is going to be develop the Third Festival of Jewish cinema. In the festival take part films of different countries of the world and in which, last year, two Chilean movies participated. Coquimbo, Saint city

Same as Jerusalem, The capital of IV region aspires to become a place of cult for the Christians, Muslins and Jews.

Everything started off with the construction of the Cross of Third Millenium, and later a mesquite that now is on the verge of been finished. This last one is been financing with the million dollar donation of the king of Morocco. This means that now there is only one thing left to do a monument in honor to the Judaism.

The idea of Pedro Velásques, the Mayor of Coquimbo, was to raise a synagogue. He even has a land in the English neighbor for his construction, but he dosen´t have the financial resources for the works. For this reason and in order to help him, came at the beginning of June the ex-president of the Israelite Stadium and world leader of the clubes Maccabi, Marcos Kaplun. He went with a group of assessors to the office of the businessman.

"But who is going to assist the synagogue if there are not Jews in the zone?" asked Kaplun.

Although he did not agree with the idea of the synagogue, Marcos Kaplun was willing to do the link with the investment fund of the Israeli capitals Kayco Internacional Group so under the concession system develops some project in the city.

The municipality gave him six proposals, a recova marine, a planetarium, a consistorial building, an underground parking, a Hebrew cultural center and an aquarium, being this last one the most interesting.

What is not clear yet is if the mayor will be satisfied with the concession as a testimony of the Hebrew presence in Coquimbo or will insist on the idea of raising a place for cult.

Meanwhile, the representatives of Kayco International Group in Israel are evaluating the construction of an aquarium and a marine museum in the North slope of the bay of "La Herradura". The first stage would include a surface of 1,500 square meters and would demand an investment that could go up to $2,311 millions pesos.

Marcos Kaplún, whose consultant represents in Chile this issue, said that this aquarium was one within a series of projects by the total of US$150 million which they plan to make in Chile. Others alternatives which are in discussion for financial help are a movie based on the TV program of TVN "Rojo", and the possibility to give resources to the Issac Newton Astronomy Institute, to increase the equip of scientists.
